Elevate Rapid City has launched a national search for its next President & Chief Executive Officer, seeking a strategic leader to help guide continued economic growth across the Black Hills region.

The President & CEO will serve as the organization’s chief strategist, spokesperson, and champion for economic vitality, leading a high-impact, investor-driven organization focused on business attraction, workforce alignment, and long-term regional competitiveness.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role will align stakeholders, execute strategic priorities, and deliver measurable economic impact. The ideal candidate will bring senior leadership experience in economic development or a related field, strong communication skills, and a collaborative, results-driven approach.

About Rapid City

The successful candidate will find that Rapid City isn't just a place to work; it's a place to live. We believe that a thriving business community goes hand-in-hand with a vibrant and fulfilling lifestyle. That's why we've cultivated a city where you can truly have it all. We call it the "Barks, Bikes, and Brews" lifestyle.

Barks: Family & Furry Friends

Rapid City is a community that embraces families of all shapes and sizes – including the four-legged ones! We understand that work-life balance is essential, and we've created an environment where families can thrive. From our numerous parks and recreational opportunities to our family-friendly events and attractions, Rapid City offers a nurturing and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Bikes: Adventure Awaits

For those who crave the outdoors, Rapid City is a paradise. The Black Hills National Forest, with its 700 miles of motorized trails and nearly 500 miles of hiking and biking trails, is practically in our backyard. World-class mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, and countless other outdoor adventures are just minutes away. Whether you're an experienced adventurer or just looking for a breath of fresh air, you'll find it here.

Skyline Wilderness and Hansen-Larson Memorial Park offer more than 20 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails right in the heart of Rapid City. The Leonard "Swanny" Swanson Memorial Pathway (also known as the bike path) spans more than 10 miles along Rapid Creek, connecting riders and walkers to Canyon Lake, Sioux Park, and Founders Park, as well as the Farmers Market.

Brews: Taste the Local Flavor

Rapid City's vibrant downtown is a hub of activity, offering diverse dining and entertainment options. From cozy coffee shops and award-winning craft breweries to innovative restaurants and live music venues, there's something to tantalize every taste bud. Our growing culinary scene reflects the city's unique blend of Western and Native American cultures, creating a truly authentic and unforgettable experience.

There are eight local breweries (and counting) including Windsor Block Bar’s extensive whiskey selection, Cohort Brewery’s beer and mead, and Woodland Republic’s unpredictable nature of wild and sour mixed-fermentation beer production.

Beyond "Brews": Arts, Culture, and Community

Rapid City's vibrant arts and culture scene extends beyond its craft breweries and restaurants. The Dahl Arts Center showcases the work of local and regional artists. The Performing Arts Center hosts a variety of performances, from plays and musicals to concerts and dance recitals. Rapid City also has a strong sense of community, with numerous civic organizations and volunteer opportunities including the annual Month of Caring organized by United Way.
