Sequitor Edge, a provider of localized edge computing infrastructure and IT services, has announced the development of a new Tier 3 edge computing center in Rapid City’s Black Hills Industrial Center. The project represents an expansion of Sequitor Edge’s services into the Rapid City market and further strengthens the region’s digital infrastructure.
The greenfield facility will be constructed on approximately 10 acres and is built aroundSequitor Edge’s proprietary, repeatable prototype design. The center is engineered to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performance computing services to businesses across the region.
Sequitor Edge’s expansion will create three full-time, high-skilled positions with an average annual wage of $100,000.
“At Sequitor Edge, we like to say that we’re connecting people and businesses to the power of the digital frontier,” said Dan Fuhrman, co-founder and CEO of Sequitor Edge. “We do that with hyper-personalized services that are located next door — or at the edge — in high-growth but underserved markets like Rapid City. From operational efficiencies to enhanced decision-making, Rapid City will be uniquely positioned to innovate, compete, and grow.”
Supporting Local Industry with Local Infrastructure
Edge computing centers process and store data closer to where it is generated and used, reducing latency and increasing operational reliability for businesses. Unlike hyperscale facilities that serve global networks, edge centers are intentionally localized — designed to work directly with companies in their communities.
The Rapid City facility will support industries that depend on secure, fast, and reliable data processing, including advanced manufacturing, healthcare, defense-related industries, financial services, and other technology-enabled operations.
Victoria Blatchford, Vice President of Business Development for Sequitor Edge’s Great Plains Region, emphasized the regional impact of the investment.
“Sequitor Edge will deploy services and infrastructure in Rapid City that deliver critical competitive advantages to the business community,” Blatchford said. “In fact, Sequitor's cutting-edge services and technology will elevate the market’s economic development appeal.”
Responsible Infrastructure Investment
Sequitor Edge’s Tier 3 design prioritizes operational efficiency, redundancy, and responsible resource management. As part of its development process, Sequitor worked with local partners to conduct site due diligence and ensure infrastructure alignment with community standards and utility capacity.
Elevate Rapid City connected Sequitor Edge with Dream Design and other regional partners to assist with site selection and project coordination.
“Digital infrastructure is increasingly essential to economic competitiveness,” said Todd Kenner, CEO of Elevate Rapid City. “This project strengthens Rapid City’s ability to support data-driven industries while reflecting a thoughtful, site-specific approach. Sequitor Edge is building infrastructure that serves local businesses, enhances resilience, and supports long-term economic growth in our region.”
A Strategic Addition to the Black Hills Industrial Center
The facility will be located within the Black Hills Industrial Center, positioning Sequitor Edge near key transportation corridors and regional employers. The investment reinforces Rapid City’s role as a regional hub for business and technology-enabled growth.
Sequitor Edge’s expansion into Rapid City reflects the continued diversification of the local economy and strategic investment in infrastructure that supports modern business operations.
