On October 7, 2025, Elevate Rapid City celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting for Trav’s Outfitter, a South Dakota family-owned retailer known for quality workwear, footwear, and outdoor gear. Located at 413 North Campbell Street, the new store marks the company’s second location, and its first in western South Dakota.

Founded in 2003 in Watertown, South Dakota, Trav’s Outfitter has built a reputation for outfitting hardworking people with durable, dependable gear. Owner and CEO Travas Uthe brings more than 40 years of footwear retail experience, and his passion for customer service and small-town values continues to drive the business today.

Opening in Rapid City represents more than growth, it’s a homecoming of sorts for a company rooted in South Dakota’s work ethic and sense of community. “We’re proud to join the Rapid City business community because this town represents the values we believe in—hard work, self-reliance, and showing up for your neighbors,” Travas Uthe shared. “As a family-owned business, we’re here not just to sell quality gear, but to invest in a community that’s built on grit, pride, and perseverance. Rapid City is growing, and we’re excited to grow with it, serving the people who build, fix, and move this town forward every day.”

The new store expands Trav’s reach to serve even more South Dakotans whether they’re on the job site, on the ranch, or out on the trail. With a full selection of trusted brands and a team dedicated to helping customers find the right fit, Trav’s Outfitter aims to bring the same personal service and quality products that have made their Watertown location a statewide favorite.

Trav’s Outfitter’s expansion is a welcome addition to Rapid City’s thriving business landscape, supporting local jobs, growing regional retail options, and strengthening the connection between small business and community pride.
