Ribbon Cutting: Buffalo Plains Recovery Grand Opening

Provides Critical Inpatient Addiction Services

Published Friday, July 11, 2025

On June 26, Elevate Rapid City joined Buffalo Plains Recovery for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of a new inpatient treatment facility at 405 E. Fairlane Drive. Focused on providing evidence-based care for individuals battling drug and alcohol addiction, Buffalo Plains Recovery represents a significant step forward in expanding behavioral health services in the Black Hills region.

Founded by CEO Ryan Letterman, Buffalo Plains Recovery was born out of a deeply personal mission. Letterman moved to Rapid City in 2023 and quickly recognized a gap in local resources for those in need of inpatient care. “Addiction is a devastating disease that affects people from every walk of life,” he said. “When I saw how limited the options were, I knew I wanted to be part of the solution.”

Initially envisioning a small residential setting, Letterman’s plans shifted after discovering the building on Fairlane Drive. “The moment I walked in, I knew it was the place,” he recalled. With that, the vision evolved from a modest beginning into a fully operational recovery center built around hope, structure, and community support.

Buffalo Plains Recovery officially began accepting patients on July 1. The facility is designed to offer a holistic and compassionate approach to addiction recovery, emphasizing not only sobriety but long-term healing and life transformation. The name itself pays homage to the strength and resilience found across the Plains—qualities the program seeks to instill in each of its clients.

“Our mission is to help individuals reclaim their purpose and rebuild their lives,” said Letterman. “It’s not just about getting clean—it’s about creating a foundation for real, lasting change.”

As Rapid City continues to grow, facilities like Buffalo Plains Recovery offer more than just treatment—they offer hope. By investing in recovery, the region invests in people, and in the promise of a healthier, more resilient future for all.
