South Dakota Overhead Doors was established in 1996 by Rich and Kim Lundstrom. For nearly 30 years, they grew a business that excelled at customer satisfaction and quality work. In addition to that, they grew the business and loyal employee base.

In 2023, they had decided that they were ready to move on to their next chapter. Kim had stated, "We thought it would take 2-3 years to find the right fit. We were extremely cautious as to who we chose because of our employees. Little did we know that in 2024 the perfect match would be presented to us?" That is when they met Scott and Angie McBee.

Scott moved to Rapid City in 1997 and started his career with McKie Ford as a sales manager. He worked for that company until 2016 when he seized an opportunity to open his own car lot. That year "Scotty's Auto Center" was born! In the fall of 2022, Scott had decided times and conditions were right to retire and sell Scotty's. "I wouldn't bet a million dollars I would be installing garage doors two years later."

Angie is "born and raised" right here in Rapid City. Her parents’ roots are also in Rapid City. Her mom and dad were her mentors growing up, running a successful plumbing business, DeDe's Faucet repair for nearly 45 years. Angie learned to work hard as a young person. "I just knew, if you worked hard you would get everything you need.” states Angie. Therefore, after high school she got a job making phone calls for a salesperson at McKie Ford. A year after that she started her career in the automotive business as a salesperson for McKie. The rest is history; over the course of 29 years, she was in sales, finance, vehicle management, and sales management. Angie retired in 2024, after 12 years as General Sales Manager for Granite Automotive. "I love people. Whether I am watching an employee succeed or making a customer happy. I loved it!" It was her time to turn a new page.

Not sure what to do, Angie met with another mentor of hers. Ross McKie; he had taught her so much she was just sure he would steer her in the right direction. After they met, Ross asked, "Could you get excited about garage doors?" After a little bit of research and not much time Scott and Angie said, "Absolutely!"

Along with their amazing staff, Scott and Angie are now excited about garage doors. They are having a blast! "Learning about overhead doors has been so fun. We never knew there was so much to it. Everywhere we go, all we see are garage doors."

They love our community, customer service and taking care of people. Just add garage doors and it's a perfect fit! "They say when one door closes another one opens. Ours just happened to be a garage door.
