On May 7, 2024, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City, SD, celebrated the grand opening of its new parish hall, Saint Joseph Hall, with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. This event honored the culmination of seven years of planning and effort and highlighted the community that calls the Cathedral home.

Established in Rapid City in 1936, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help has been a cornerstone of the community, providing spiritual guidance and support to its 1,340 households and 3,300 parishioners. The parish community is dedicated to building Christ-centered relationships, making the Gospel accessible to all, and promoting a culture of authentic beauty for the Lord.

"This has been seven years in the making. We are so excited to open our doors and hearts to parishioners and community members," shared a representative from the Cathedral. The new hall addresses a long-standing need for more space for parish gatherings and events. "We have longed for more space for parish gatherings and events. Saint Joseph Hall is a welcomed addition to our family of faith."

The creation of Saint Joseph Hall was a collaborative effort involving many individuals and organizations. "UDA (Upper Deck Architects) - Jerry Eisnbraun - and his team did an amazing job with the design. They tied in details from the Cathedral church, the small chapel, and the rectory, making the new hall a seamless addition to our facilities," added the representative.

"Rangel Construction - especially Josh Bottom, the Superintendent - has produced a work of art. Parishioners sacrificed and raised nearly $76 million for this effort. More work needs to be done, but we're well on our way. Dan Scheurer from First Security Bank has been a great partner and tremendous support throughout the process."

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is a proud member of the Rapid City business community. "Faith plays an important—critical and essential—role in the life of our community. At the Cathedral, we are proud to be part of this growing community that understands the importance of family and faith," stated the representative.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was a testament to the dedication and faith spirit of the Cathedral parish and the broader Rapid City community.
