Firehouse Wine Cellars is celebrating a decade of serving up award-winning wine and first-class guest service. Located on Rapid City’s historic Main Street, the winery opened its doors on April 5, 2014 – a business and beverage that complemented its longstanding brewery and restaurant.

They had a vision to create high-quality, traditional-style wines from both cold-hardy and Vitis vinifera grapes.
Firehouse Wine Cellars wanted to put South Dakota on the map for exceptional wines while building a community of wine lovers at the same time. Ten years later and their vision continues to evolve. Their wines are internationally recognized, and their family of wine lovers continues to grow. The winery has nearly 2,000 wine club members throughout the country.

While the winery is celebrating 10 years of operation, our story began more than 30 years ago with a group of friends and some pints of beer. After many late nights, the dream of opening South Dakota’s first craft brewery – The Firehouse Brewing Company – was realized. The love for locally crafted beverages and top-notch guest service grew from there, and in 2014, the friends added Firehouse Wine Cellars.
The winery’s winemaker, Adam Martinez, sources from the finest growers across the West and Midwest, including their local vineyard, Old Folsom Vineyard, to create exceptional, internationally award-winning wines. Old Folsom, only three miles from our tasting room, was established in 2007 by the Goulds, a Firehouse family from the beginning. They produce high-quality, cold-climate grapes using a sustainable approach.

The popularity of Firehouse Wine Cellar’s wonderful wines and amazing guest service required them to expand two additional times. In 2018, the winery opened their Smokejumper Station tasting room and bistro in the Southern Hills, and most recently they acquired a 13,000-square-foot building to expand their wine production.
With more than 20 wines available to sample, locals and visitors will surely find a wine they love. The winery’s Rapid City tasting room offers a variety of light bites that are perfectly paired with both their wines and beer. They also offer live music along with other fun events.

Firehouse Wine Cellars is excited to celebrate 10 years and look forward to another decade of sharing wine with the community.
They will celebrate with music, beverages, and light bites on Friday, April 5, and Saturday, April 6.

“Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things in the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.” – Ernest Hemingway
