In the world of professional development, Elevate's Leadership Institute (ELI) stands out for building leadership skills and understanding how workplaces function. The recently finished ELI Session 5, held at The Rushmore Hotel, was a valuable experience for participants.

Tracy Palecek from Palacek Therapy and Consulting led Session 5, guiding participants through meaningful workplace conversations. Tracy shared practical tips for success and emphasized the importance of mental and emotional well-being in participants' careers. The group explored how to navigate challenging situations at work, learning that just "venting" can be counterproductive to a positive work environment.

Mike Nelson (Black Hills Federal Credit Unionpraised the session, highlighting that workplace challenges are universal, stating, "Regardless of industry, we all deal with the same types of issues."

ELI participants also had an eye-opening tour of the Pennington County Jail, led by Jail Commander Rob Yantis. The experience shed light on how correctional facilities are managed and the careful thought that goes into decision-making. Amy DiRienzo of SD Mines stressed the importance of understanding how management decisions impact those serving time, saying, "It was eye-opening to hear about how things are managed in the Pennington County Jail and the issues driving those management decisions."

Following the tour, Officer Tim Doyle from the Rapid City Police Department and Lt. Dave Switzer from the Pennington County Sheriff's Office provided insights into how law enforcement offices work together to support the city and surrounding areas.

Elevate your leadership journey with ELI, where you gain insights and experiences and collaborate with the community to shape tomorrow's leaders.

Applications for the next class will open in April 2024!
