In 1975, Richard and Dawn Thornton started Thornton Flooring in their garage with just three rolls of carpet and two rolls of vinyl. A lot has happened in the nearly 45 years since, and they've come a long way from the garage.

Thornton Flooring originally opened in Sioux Falls and has grown to cover more than 65,000 square feet. A second location opened in North Sioux City in 2018. Their newest location in Rapid City opened in 2019.

Richard and Dawn have passed the torch to their son, Matt Thornton. Matt has been active in the flooring business for more than 25 years, and he continues to keep Thornton Flooring locally owned and operated. They haven't lost that small, family business feel.

Thornton Flooring offers quality products and honest, dependable craftsmanship on installations. They provide the largest selection of stock in the Midwest and were recently awarded the 2019 Trade Partner of the Year.
