Your business is already doing things worth talking about, but the right people may not be hearing about them. Most entrepreneurs wait for the media to find them. The real payoff comes when you know how to spot your story, share it with confidence, and put every mention to work.
In this hands-on workshop, Shiloh Francis, Vice President of Communications Marketing and Community Engagement at Elevate Rapid City, walks you through how to get your business in the news and make that coverage count.
Key Takeaways
- Recognize what's newsworthy. Learn how to identify stories worth sharing and turn business milestones into compelling press releases.
- Communicate confidently with the media. Develop key messages, prepare for interviews and learn practical techniques for answering difficult questions.
- Turn media coverage into a business asset. Discover how to leverage earned media to build credibility, increase visibility and support business growth.
About the Speaker:

Shiloh Francis
As Vice President of Communication Marketing and Community Engagement, Shiloh oversees the strategic messaging of Elevate’s initiatives. She is involved in every aspect of telling the stories of the area’s business community and loves it! Growing up in Highmore, Shiloh credits her small-town South Dakota upbringing for her knack in cultivating relationships, networking and always seeing the big picture.
After graduating from the University of South Dakota with a degree in political science, Shiloh moved west of the Missouri River finding her new home in the Black Hills. She worked as Visit Rapid City’s social media and content manager before joining U.S. Sen. John Thune’s West River team. However, Shiloh’s ease with technology, love of communications, and innate analytical personality brought her back to the marketing world.
