Details

Rapid City Area Schools has been navigating aging buildings, safety gaps, and enrollment growth for years. Now, that conversation is turning into a decision voters will make in November.

The proposed $107 million bond focuses on school safety, aging building systems, responsible growth, and long-term cost savings across the district. The plan covers priority HVAC upgrades at three schools, safety and security upgrades at five more, an addition and renovation at South Park Elementary, a new elementary school on the Parkview property, and safety improvements at Stevens High School with a 60% supermajority required to pass.

September's Critical Issues Luncheon will dig into what's in the bond, why now, and what it means for taxpayers. We'll hear from RCAS leadership and school board representation as they break down the district's priorities, the cost to taxpayers, and what's at stake for our schools and our community.

Joining us on the panel:

Moderator: Alan Solano | Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Monument Health

- Coy Sasse | Chief Financial and Operations Officer, Rapid City Area Schools

- Steve Allender | Campaign Chair, Rapid City Area Schools

- Dr. Jami Jo Thompson | Superintendent, Rapid City Area Schools

- Katy Urban | 2nd Vice President, Rapid City Area Schools Board of Education
